Now that we can, I want to stock up on AK mags. Where is a good source for them on the internet? Have prices gotten better?

TIA

Always been able to stock up on AK mags, they (the stuff that's always been for sale) were all "preban" a couple weeks ago. Centerfiresystems.com has 4 mags with pouch for $30 for a long time now. I don't think prices will change too much on AK mags, there's way too many that were made before 1994.

Thanks squeky,

I want to start stocking up before the replacement ban sneaks through.

I was hoping for new mags.

I ordered 8 AK mags from Centerfire systems. The mags look brand new, and are East German. 1 of the 8 has a ding in it. Otherwise they are in oustanding shape; no scratches or anything. I cannot tell the difference between those and new ones I already had.

They shipped quickly and I had them 2 days after placing the order.

Thanks Squeky.

I wouldn't mind a NIW mag for my SAR-1, for the day I have it refinished.

But last year I bought 10 Polish mags from AIM(IIRC) for $60. They are all used. Some have slight rust pits under a newly applied finish. The mags look real good until you look real close.

The only mag that I have a problem with is the one with a 5digit number stamped along the back side. It'll hold only 25 rds. But it feeds them 100%, just like the others. I've taken the floor plate off and the follower runs freely, but I guess it's the added pressure and leverage when loaded that causes it to hang up.

If you find some new mags, great. If not don't worry about "used" AK mags. They ain't used, they're experienced.

For 7.62 I prefer the 20 round Hugarians from TAPCO - good price at $5 each.

For 5.45 I prefer the Bulgarian polymer mags - I think I bought them from Kvar.

Another vote for the Centerfire deal on the four mags and the pouch. I've ordered twice, and both times the mags looked like new.

Think I need to order some more first of the week now that the news is out......

Why pay more for polymer mags?

Just got my mags from Centerfire Systems... I like the mags but I think they did a crappy job in packing them. Nothing in box to protect them... Several of the mag bottoms came off and the springs were out... I just put them back together. I was not impressed by the packaging.
