Ok I saw a mak-90 with thumbhole stock at my local gunshop for only 399 is that a good deal or not?

That is a normal retail price for a nice Mak-90. They are a better quality than the Sar in the looks department anyway. I have seen them as low as $325. CB

I'd say it was about $50 too high, they usually run about $350 for one in excellent condition.

I would say it's a reasonable deal as far as Gunshop prices are concerned. I've come to expect most rifles in gunshops to be overpriced, sometimes to the extreme (i.e. the $499 SAR1s I've seen in my area), so it's probably the best deal you can get on a MAK that you get to hold before you buy, short of a gunshow. All that said, you could put your faith in a major supplier and probably save a bit, but then again I haven't seen anywhere that stocks MAK90s normally like they do SAR series rifles.
