I am driving out to AIM tomorrow and getting my first AK, but I have a question, I know your supposed to clean a new gun and I heard AK's are notorious for heavy oil and cosmoline all over the thing, what do you recommend to clean it off? Is carb cleaner good, if so, what brand or is there something safer? And I will be using FP-10 CLP as my primary lube and cleaner afterwards.

Thanks!

FP10 is fine, and better than the designer ever expected.
Field strip it, wipe the big stuff out, take off the butt stock, turn the oven on to warm/about 175deg, set it on some pre-cut cardboard box to line the rack, wait, wipe off what runs out, repeat a few times, swab bore, lube gun, shoot heavily till satisfied.
