I just noticed when cleaning my SLR-105 that the gas piston wobbles about 2 mm at the end when holding the bolt carrier.  It has the crosspin in it and it doesn't move more than that.  Is this normal?  I had a WASR before and it didn't move at all.  Thanks,

I've got a copy of The Official Soviet AKM Manual, translated by James F. Gebhardt (Paladin Press, Boulder, CO: 1999).

Under "Procedure for inspection of the rifle by officers", in Section 72, subsection 3) (p. 49), it reads:

"3) During inspection of the bolt carrier pay special attention to the attachment of the gas piston. A slight wiggle is permissable."
