This question wasn't getting a lot of action in the SKS forum, so I'm moving it here.

CTD has a replacement gas tube with an accessory rail mount built in.
Do you think this is a good way to go for a scope set up?
It puts the scope considerably further away from your face than a top cover mount would. Would that require a specific kind of scope?

Does anybody use one of these on a SKS?

No experience with that mount, but I have used a few scout mount scopes on milsurp bolt guns. For a mag scope, putting it farther out certainly narrows the field of view. OK for a red dot but a target finding challenge otherwise.

After doing some more research, I can see why nobody uses this set up.
