How much would it cost for the taxes and stuff for one of these? Also, what all is involved for having one of these made?

Try posting this in general AK discussions - not many people come into the specific forums.
The tax will be $200 for an MG....the cost of getting a RR AK, and converting it, or even getting an RR Krink will be astronomical.

Uneducated guess - about $10k-$14k.
Gotta love that 86 MG ban.

$14k on the low end, prior to converting it into AKS-74U configuration.

Most already converted Krinks seem to go for around $15K-$16K.

So................I couldn't take a krink kit that I've got now and have it built up as a FA?

Nope.

Unless you want a free trip to Club Fed in the Graybar suite.

ETA: Not unless you already have an Pre '86 AK receiver that has a tax stamp.

For some reason I don't think that is what he was talking about.

Not unless you're willing to spend $14k or so for a registered-reciever donor AK to use.

Yeah, I wasn't looking to spend THAT much on one. I thought you could have one built up, if you did all of the proper paperwork and stuff on it.

Or, get your 07 FFL and 02 SOT. Then you can build a FA Krink for R&D purposes.

You don't have to pay the $200 tax (though the licenses cost a lot).

IIRC, that doesn't have to be for "R&D", he can build them to sell if he had that license. He can possese it as long as he has the license, but can only sell it to government agencys, export sales where legal, 02 FFL/07 SOTs and class 03 FFLs who have a demo letter from a gov agency.

That license could import one for "R&D", even with the barrel ban.

I'm not a lawyer. That's just what I thought it said, as I've looked into this before when I wanted to get a FFL.
