Model is the Arsenal Inc. SA M5, post-ban in 5.56. My favorite long-gun of any I've tried so-far.

But man, that black plastic furniture sure can heat up under the broilin' hot sun of the central VA summer, especially after being out in it for several hours during our monthly matches at my nearby range. I've been wanting for a long time to do something to "lighten things up". Ran into a guy last weekend who does a lot of this and had a great looking M1A with him he'd just finished. Encouraged me to take the plunge and make something different and uniquely my own, and a lot less griddle-like !!! Results are below.

NOTE: this is my first ever attempt at this.

Looks good. I like the way it blends together instead of sharp edges.

Thanks. There's actually both a gray-tan and a yellow-tan in addition to the OD. It's a sublte contrast and my photography doesn't do it justice, but it does break up the profile a little more in the field.

Looks good but I didn't know there was any desert in VA.

I think the original post addresses this. Something there about hot sun and wanting lighter  colors. The OD markings help break-up the profile, which is the primary purpose and function of any effective camo (versus trying to mimic the background, which at any distance usually blends into a solid).

Was ordered direct off the SpecterGear web site. See here

I added extra pouches to the side MOLLE panels. See here

No prob. I figured that's what the sunglasses smiley indicated.

It's been as hot as a desert the past couple of months though. And no, it's NOT a dry heat.
