Yeah, and check out the same forum on the AR15 side...

Troubleshooting AR's is practically a hobby for many.

"Well it's short-stroking, and the ejector spring is weak, and the gas tube melted, the ejector got stuck, it's not going into full battery, double feeding, not feeding...

...but it has a 17 rail system on the front, flip up sites, night sites, red dot that witnesses, adjustable 7 stage trigger, 48 position telestock, hydraulic buffer, 450 million candle power tac light, and yes, a bayonet lug.

so who cares if it don't shoot?"

Get rid of that sissy rifle and get an AK.

I do wish that we were allowed to import the excellent Sig 55X series from Switzerland.  It is an AK at heart, although a swift glance will reveal that it was not assembled by drunken Russian plumbers who got bored while waiting for the hookers to arrive.

Reference this post, for every 1 person having trouble there are an unknown number who are not. But I will admit that you are right Kalashkinov rifles are much more reliable, and probably take a heavier beating than an M16/Ar15 would.   hinking.gif

Really? My brothers Mak-90 took 5 man hours of work before it ran even 90%. Guess it didn't get the memo. The whole receiver was out of spec.

Suprising, every Ak I've been around are virtually indestructible, almost the Glock of the assault rifle world. As that was Mikhail Kalashkinov's intention, who cares if its ugly, doesn't have many features as long as shoots and does it over and over again. I still love my Ar though! I hold them both in high regard along with many others.

No matter how great the AK design is, it won't work if it isn't executed properly.

Yeah, wasn't tryin to hate on AR's...they are still sexy as hell...and their ergonomics rule.

They just pissed me off too much when multiple prebans (at preban prices) and a bunch of posties wouldn't run half as reliable as my $300 Romanian.

Plus I'm having way too much fun building AKs!!!
