Uhhh, I've seen several places that says they exist. From what I've seen/heard, they're incredibly rare over here (or even over there).
As long as we're on the topic of drums... I've seen many posts about 100rd drums for the 7.62x39-based rifles, but all we've ever seen are 75-rd drums. I've never once found an authoritative source that says "Yes, 100rd drums exist!". Do they? Have you actually seen them with your own eyes, or is this simply a "my friend has/had one" deal? |

Haven't seen a 100 rounder with my own eyes, but I've seen pictures of them for sale. Chinese manufacture.

the only 5.45 x 39.5 magazines that i know about are the horizontal 'pan' layout ones that are in the russian firearm museums. afaik, they were strictly prototypes and were never adopted for issue.
the russians continued to use the 30 round standard box magazine, the 45 round rpk-74 box magazine and then developed the 'quad-row' 60 round box magazine. again, afaik, the 60 round magazine was developed after 1994 and is not legal for use by other than leo/sot types. |

 the drum mag for the ak-74 is top/center in the picture. you are looking down the feed tower. the rounds are arrayed horizontally in the drum. below the drum is the quad-row magazine, if i am not mistaken. |

Cool. I get to be an authoritative source cuz I have seen one, owned one, fired one and sold one. Genuine 100rd drum. Works exactly like the 75rd Chinese, back flips open as shown above. I prefer the 75 however, less bulk, similarly absurd ammo capacity. |

I'd love to pick up about 6 or 8 of those Chinese 100rd drums. Shame they won't be importable even if the AWB sunsets. The Romanians should get cheaper though. Perhaps we could encourage them to make some Chinese style. You'd think with all the third world hellholes out there we could find SOMEBODY who could make these affordably.

I have two books that list the CZ2000 series AK type rifle can be had with 75 round drums in both 5.45 and 5.56. Can't say how valid that is but since they were made in the year 2000 timeframe it really doesn't matter...
