I am thinking of buying an Arsenal USA SA M-5 (trying to decide between this and a VEPR) and was wondering if the receiver has an upper and low tang or just an upper. On another web site there are drawings of the milled receivers, and this has a comment "NOTE! Later Bulgarian has single upper tang only".

Mine has upper and lower tangs.

All SA-M5s have an upper and lower tang.

Whatever website you were on is wrong.

Only the post ban SLR-95 and SA-93 rifles with thumbhole stocks had only the upper tang.

The SLR 96 also only as one tang.

The SA M-5 is built by Arsenal Inc., out of Las Vegas, Nevada. Not to be confused with Armory/Arsenal USA/Global Trades from Houston, Texas.
