It doesn't matter which way the stock folds, you don't shoot it with it folded.

I think shooting it when it's folded is a possibility that is worth considering. If someone comes into my house and I need to use it in close quarters, I won't be bothering with a stock.
NOTE: if you have or want to get the S.W.I.F.T. Safety lever from BJB, and you have a romanian wire folding stock, you can't adjust the safety, on or off, while it is folded.  But, I don't bother with the safety anyway, so it really doesn't matter, I prefer to keep my mags out instead. Just my $.02!

I agree that most of the time you will fire the weapon with the stock extended out but there is a possibility of firing it with the stock folded like ShoulderIT says. In that case would the side folder get in the way when firing left handed? It looks like you can get them that hinge to the right or left side of the AK but the most common seems to be to the right. John

No, the left folding stocks (AK74M or triangular type) do not interfere when shooting as a lefty.

Being a lefty myself, not unless you blow through all 30rds in the mag on the home invader. From a lefty perspective the Romanian folder gets in the way of the mag release. You can still access it but it's a little more difficult. Everything else is fine. As others said, you should have the stock unfolded earlier. |
