I've heard the Eubanks receiver is OK. I won't try it myself though.

OOW-They're OK.

Joeken? Noway.

Vulcan? Bwahaha, you've got to be kidding me.

Global trades-The only one I'd ever use, except until someone came out with a more authentic looking AKM receiver.

LOL.  So, uh, Vulcan sucks, huh?

Hmm...so Global Trades is the "best" one out of what seems to 3rd tier AK receivers, huh?

I think most would agree that Globals are probably the best out there right now with OOW and Ewbanks being in second place.  DCI is supposed to come out with an accurate AKM and 74 receiver in Jan or Feb.... so we shall see.

they are are capable of building a good rifle.

vulcans require heat treating, minor trimming/filing

oow's have the low selector hole, the billboard and no x, y stamps

ewbanks require filing/fitting/trimming but are nice

arsenal has ugly dimples and require minor filing/fitting...

Vulcan is no longer in the AK receiver making business. They sold their tooling to....... Eubanks, who is one of the two dickheads of Joe-ken fame. The eubanks receiver is almost an exact duplicate of the Vulcan. However, most folks won't touch a eubanks receiver because of the pisspoor rep of joeken. they have a long history of screwing over their customers.

The 2nd gen Ewbanks are one of the better receivers available right now.
Just don't buy it from jerkin, buy it from DPH. They are fantastic to deal with.

We've helped out a couple of other California guys who've already acted on the idea you are contemplating. Try www.nodakspud.com.
Thanks.

Uh, how's the quality of this "FLAT" compared to a REAL, say, SOVIET AK47????

I used a Ewbanks for my first build.

They do require a bit of fileing, but in the end it turned out great.

Im still trying to decide if I like the pre drilled trunion holes.

More authentic?  What's the difference?

Plus, what's up with have a 1.0mm vs. 1.6mm receiver??

Ewbanks and JOEKEN are the exact same thing.  Best bet is to get one without the trunnion holes drilled but I don't know if anyone has those in stock.

The Global dimples are no big thing in my mind.

The 1.6mm needs alot more fitting than a 1.0mm receiver and why would you want one?  Go with the 1.0mm.

Check this link for the DCI receivers: www.nodakspud.com/page2.htm.

The DCI receivers are the product we have sent recently to California customers.

Thanks.

Seems like Global Trades is out of the question as they are backlogged.  That leaves DCI and Eubanks.

ETA:  Seems like DCI is out of receivers til FEB '06??

We have the DCI M70 underfolder stock receivers in inventory. The DCI M70 fixed stock receivers are temporarily out of stock, but resupply is expected by the middle of January.
Thanks.

I think everyone is familiar with the OOW "safety gap", but other than that they are nice receivers.  I posted in another thread that Rex from Vector Arms told me the Ewbanks receivers are just fine.

As far as builds go I'm now up to the "many" catagory and I've tried most of the receivers. Ewbanks/Joekens "Gen 2" are fine receivers. The trunnion holes are better left to you to drill but the receivers are fine with some minor fitting problems. Arsenal USA (Global Trades) are also fine receivers and ALSO require some minor fitting. I've just finsished two Yugo's on DCI's receivers and they probably required the LEAST fitting........BUT..........the trunnion holes didn't line up perfectly and they DID need some tweaking too. They ALL need some tweaking. Period!

On a similar note; I just picked up two more AKS-74 Bulgy kits from ORF and I was laughing as I cleaned the parts up. The trunnions, especially the rear ones, on these FACTORY rifles, were all tweaked and off a little bit. Gaps here and there, metal rubbing where it shouldn't, etc. In other words things didn't line up quite perfectly at the factory either and they just riveted away anyway...........

It sure makes me feel better about MY builds!!!

Okay, so it's better NOT to have the trunnion holes (whatever the hell those are) pre-drilled?

What happened to the receievers?  Did they stop selling 'em?

im useing global recivers for my builds,....not major problems at all,..except with there customer service.

personally,.. i cant stand the OOW selector gap,....it just erks me.

if i cant get a global reciver id go with a eubanks,..if i was to do a yugo underfolder/fixed stock build i would go with the DCI's in a heartbeat.

i saw this one guys DCI underfolder reciver after the trunnions had been installed,........i was just a little jealious,.and may have to get a yugo underfolder kit one of these days.

but either way good luck and hope you have fun.

I have seen/inspected the yugo reciever that DCI 's putting out and without a second thought would get one .
personal opinion, when looking at a DCI reciever all others are junk!
Other company's should look at the example of quality of DCI and change if there going to stay in this game ,or I feel they will soon be surpassed!

Nope, Scott from DPH arms still sells receivers, he just has better business practices than other dealers out there.  He won't sell you something he doesnt have in stock. (Charge your CC then have you wait forever)  He will re-list them on his site when he has them in stock or at least get confirmation of when he will have possession before he sells it on his site.

highly recommended!
