Like a few of you, I am in full-on buying mode these days, taking advantage of some of the great deals. I bought four rifles in October, and November is already getting off to an expensive start, too.
But here's my question: For my next rifle, I'm considering either the SLR106 while it's still on sale at $699, or the Lancaster Tantal with custom wood furniture, at $799. (You can see the Tantal
here, if you scroll down to the bottom of the page. Check it out, because it doesn't look like any other Tantal I've ever seen.)
Here's what I'm thinking:
If I get the Arsenal SLR106, that will complete my Arsenal collection (for now). I'll have 7.62, 5.45 and 5.56 Arsenals. Plus, the price of $699 is tempting.
But if I get the Tantal, that will complete my collection of AK-74's (for now). I'll have a SGL31, a Bulgy 74, and the Tantal. The only other 74 I would be lacking would be a WASR 2, and I'm not so sure I want one of those anyway.
The Tantal is not as good of a deal, but I'm also thinking that the SLR106's will be around longer (albeit not at the sale price) than these custom Tantals. I've owned a SLR106 before, and liked it. But I sold it, and now of course I regret doing so. Nonetheless, of these two rifles, I prefer the Tantal; mostly because it is unique and quite different from most Tantals I've seen. The custom wood on this Tantal looks gorgeous.
So, which should it be, and why??? I might just get both this week, but assuming I don't...which should I get first?
