ok as you all know . or maybe not
I have a 92, stamped, slant cut MAK
getting rid of the stupid thumbhole stock and replacing it with a Walnut set from Ironwood
Hers my delema, when checking for initial fit of the buttstock, the rear of the receiver is smaller than the stem of the new stock by almost halfdue to the rear tang mounting plate
Now .... should I cut the plate ( almost a half inch ) to allow the full stem of the stock to insert into the receiver or trim the stock to fit the existing opening in the receiver ?
structurally cutting the plate will do no harm but I believe cutting the stock will weaken the integrity of the stock
YEAH YEAH YEAH ..... I know what the answer is going to be I just need some support here to make me take the right step and start cutting on my precious baby
