I HAVE A FLAT FROM COPES.  EVERYTHING TURNED OUT GREAT EXCEPT WHEN I INSTALL THE LOWER RAILS AND LINE UP THE CENTER SUPPORT HOLE. THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE TOP AND LOWER RAILS IS ABOUT .295" .  IT SHOULD BE .250 SO IT WILL LINE UP BETTER WITH THE BARREL TRUNION. SHOULD I SLOT THE HOLES IN THE RAILS AND RAISE THEM UP? THANKS FOR EVERYONES HELP.

I never use the predrilled holes in the lower rails.  What I do is align the lower rails with the trunnion and find the appropriate drill to keep the rail parallel while maintaining  alignment then weld the rails in place.  I have never had the predrilled holes align correctly with my trunnions.  Sometimes they are pretty close and will probably work, but I always "eyeball" them.
