DETROIT (AP) -- An argument between two groups of people on the city's west side left two men dead and a third man wounded after a person opened fire with an AK-47 assault rifle, police said Sunday.

The shooting happened about 11:30 p.m. EDT Saturday, said Sgt. John Claybourne. During the argument, he said, a person from one group who had gone to a vehicle returned with the weapon and fired on the other group.

A 21-year-old Detroit Police Department cadet and his 24-year-old friend were killed, Claybourne said. A third man wounded in the shooting was taken to an area hospital in temporary serious condition.

The cadet wasn't working in an official capacity at the time of the shooting, police said.

A woman related to one the people involved in the argument was arrested, Claybourne said. Police were told she made a call on her mobile phone asking someone to bring a gun back to the scene of the argument.

The shooting was under investigation as police searched for others involved in the argument, Claybourne said.

Teen Accused Of Shooting Bystanders With AK-47

CAMDEN, N.J. -- A teenager was arrested Wednesday and charged with murder in a July shooting with an AK-47 assault rifle that left one man dead and wounded three others.

Donnell "Peasey" Gideon, 18, was charged with murder.

Authorities said he and another person got into a fight in the Fairview section of Camden, where Gideon lives, on July 17. Later that night, police said, he and two other people returned to the scene with the AK-47 and a shotgun and opened fire on a group of people.

The shots missed the intended target, but one hit Joseph Fields, 59, in the head, killing him. Fields, a neighborhood resident, had walked to a nearby store.

Two other men and a woman who was working inside a Wawa convenience store were wounded.

Authorities said their investigation is continuing.

Gideon faces a life prison sentence if convicted of murder. Superior Court Judge Linda G. Baxter on Thursday set bail at $800,000.

A West Side woman told police Sunday that her brother broke into her home and fought with her, then fled, leaving behind a loaded AK-47 assault rifle.

Northwest District officers were called to the house on Massachusetts Avenue, near Normal Avenue, where the resident said her brother entered through a porch window without her permission.

"When she caught him," police said in their report, "he started to fight with her, slapping and punching her numerous times about the head and face." Officers added that an AK-47 with 26 rounds, along with a 30-round magazine, were found on the scene.

Two other men and a woman who was working inside a Wawa convenience store were wounded.
