Sell it to someone whose head is canted the same way.Arn't all Madis cursed with the same problem?Reposition the front sight.

let me get this all straight...
your front sight post is centered in thr front sight base and the rifle is 'on' for windage and hitting dead center...BUT...the front sight base is leaning to the left? and you don't want to rotate the front sight base to the vertical and re-pin? have you had a smith or other second opinion of your eyeball assessment of the rifle done yet? |

The sight was vertical when I bought it, BUT the front sight post was all the way left for it to hit on target and it just didn't look right, so i took your advice and knocked out the pins, centered the drum, knocked the sight over a bit with a mallet and test fired before redrilling, now the windage is right but I don't want to re-pin it when its leaning over this bad. And no Campy I haven't brought it to a smith yet, I would rather do my AK the WECSOG way[:\]!(i'll leave the gunsmith for my finer firearms, like my AR
 )I know I shoudn't be worrying over AK cosmetics but it jus' kinda bothers me. Thanks |

you may have a crown problem that is responsible for throwing the round off course.
you may, indeed, have a rear sight that is off-axis with the bore. the only way this can be determined is by measuring or by bore-sighting. that i why i suggested you see someone with the equipment to determine 'where' the problem really is. one sure fix is to return your front sight base to vertical, center your windage drum and install an rpk adjustable windage rear sight on your maadi. |

if the sight leaf. itself, is leading off to one side: remove the sight leaf and file the keyhole shaped slot to correct this. use a small round swiss file.
if the entire rear sight block is out of rotation from the vertical. you are only one cross pin away from correcting it, just like the front sight. |

Does one have to remove the front sight and gas block to remove the rear sight block, or does it jus' lift off?

there is no need to remove the rear sight base to correct a rotation problem.
simply drive out the cross pin, rotate the block to vertical using a hammer/hardwood block and re-pin the sight base with a slightly larger cross pin (after drilling/reaming for a press fit with the new cross pin). if, indeed, you are meaning to remove the rear sight block from the rifle...then yes, you must remove the front sight base and gas block in order to slide the rear sight base forward and off the rifle. |
