Just what precisely is this thing for?



Does my SA-M7 already have it? What does it do? How is it installed?

it is a steel plate the fills/covers an area milled away during the manufacturing process of a forged/milled receiver.

that opening is slotted to receiece the cover plate.

your rifle has one installed at the factory.
