What are Bulgarian AKS-74s with the triangle side folder going for these days?

And who is building the AKS-74s now?

And any brands/builders to stay away from?

Found one locally for $650 with some mags. Assuming it isn't a crappy Century, what other builders have been known to make them in the past?

Seems to me that that AKS-74 isn't so easy to find these days. Of course you can always buy the same triangle stock from k0var, I think, and have a builder modify the receiver to accept it.

They have some parts kits on gunbroker you can buy.

Mario @PoHF bought SLR105 rifles when they were available and installed sidefolders on them.  Contact a builder amd see if they could do it on a rifle for you.

I've had very good results from Overland. And Jim Fuller is another good builder, people rave about him.

Know of a good place for a Bulg AKS or AK-74 kit then?

Or would it just be cheaper to get a kit from Overland, and have them build it out?

Century never made a triangle left side folder in any caliber.  $650 is an awesome price for an AKS-74.  When they first came out in 2004 after the ban ended, I paid $750 for one from Atlantic Firearms.  It was built buy Red Jacket on an OOW receiver.  That was before NoDak started making the left side folder receivers.  My old AKS-74 was an amazing rifle.  Wish I still had it but I had to have a Krink and couldn't afford both.

Thanks for the input. Guess I can check it out in person to make sure if it is good or not.

And is the NDS-2 receiver only for the fixed stock AK-74?

As far as I know, yes.  The NDS-2SF is for the Side Folder.  Check to see if it has the pistol grip reinforcement plate.  If not, it's not a deal breaker but it's nice to have if you plan on shooting it with the stock folded a lot.

What is the pistol grip reinforcement plate?

Sorry, been about a year since I've looked at the internals of an AK (was a fixed stocked Romy).

It's that, only it will be welded to the bottem of the receiver where the pistol grip goes.

no, the plate is welded on the outside of the receiver and the pg sets on top of it.  you still use the same method to mount the pg.

The reinforcement plate and the pistol grip nut are two separate things.  Maybe this picture will help.

The grip nut will still protrude from the bottom of the receiver as it is supposed to.
