I am planning to get my excellent Russian kit I got from Greentimber built on a Firing Line receiver. The threaded receiver is about $100.00 more than the press and pin. Besides authenticity is there any difference in going the press and pin route or is that an unholy thing to do to a Russian kit? Pros and Cons ? Aren't the Arsenal "Classics" press and pin ? Opinions please !!

If you can afford it, and the smith feels comfortable doing it, I'd go with the threaded receiver, but it will be easier I think to go with the press and pin method.
The Bulgarians went with press and pin fairly soon after the rest of the Warsaw Pact adopted the AKM. The Arsenal Inc. Classics are pressed and pinned.

My Russian AK kit is going on a press and pin receiver. I didn't want to spend the extra money for a threaded receiver. No big deal to me...

None at all, just easier and faster to get the headspace set and less man hours in a big industrial complex, no need to thread. |
