I'm really wanting to pick up one of the AES-10Bs from JGSales sans bipod due to the price, but I already have plenty of AKM rifles and want to know a feasible way to affix a correct bipod since the barrel is cut for one.

Any ideas gents?

I also know JG is selling $5 bipods but without the correct collar but those appear to be impossible to find.

Geeze...$88 plus shipping and after paying the gun smith to install it's almost worth it to just pay the extra $200 for the bipod version of the AES-10B

JG sales has those bipods for $5, but no collar, I can't find the collar anywhere either....

that was one option. Removing the FSB without the bi-pod already on there is an easy process that can be done at home with a hammer, punch, and rubber mallet.

Could there be a possibility of incorrectly re-installing the FSB to where it doesn't properly line up with the rear sight? Sorry I don't have much knowledge in the kalashnikov department.

No, just line up the pin holes on the front sight with the pin grooves in the barrel.  It will then be in the factory location.

In fact, this may give you an advantage if the sights aren't perfectly aligned from the factory.  Shoot the rifle before working on it.  If the sights are off, you can correct it when you install the bipod.

what grasshopper said. Plus, I use a laser bore sight to check the alignment. While it's not 100%, it will be pretty close. Usually only requires minimal adjustments when I zero the rifle.

The bi-pod used on these rifles is not at all complex, a person could make one with relative ease with some simple parts from the hardware store, and you could make the collar set-up a two piece affair that can be attached/removed without having to remove the FSB.

So if you can do it yourself you could have one with a bipod for $600ish.
Sounds like a decent deal. To me an RPk needs a bipod.

That's what I was seriously contemplating, was hoping some folks here that purchased out of this batch might give a review or two with some pics hopefully.

Agreed 100%.  I think a do-it-yourself one would be way cool, let creativity run wild and make yourself an awesome custom one-off, possibilities are endless, you could make one with legs that look like long flash suppressors for instance, something like that.

Yes. Not sure if I'm going underfolder, triangle folder, or clubfoot though.

Shit man, they's expensive. I already have a couple laying around for other builds and don't want to have to buy a third. This was supposed to be a cheap build centered around a $10 barrel.

That is awesome. I've thought about using a bulged trunnion for a Khyber build, but I wasn't sure if it would interfere with closing the stock.
