I'm going to clean my SA M-7 Classic and I dont want to take the finish off of it. I've read horror stories about people ruining their Paint on the outside of the receiver with some solutions.

What's the best thing to use that will not only get the gun clean but also not ruin my finish if some gets on the outside?

Also the bolt and part of the piston on the inside is black too. Are they painted also? If so, how should I go about cleaning them?

From personal experience Ballistol and CLP are fine.
