Can anyone tell me what the best US made receivers are in quality and closest to Russian receivers?
In both 7.62 and 5.45. Thanks!

For a kit? Everyone seems to like ArmoryUSA receivers.

They hate their AK's though. Ironic, isn't it?

I thought Ewbanks were better?

If you don't mind considering a milled from barstock receiver, then one of the The Firing Line's products may fit your needs. They are pricey, but very highly rated, even by some of the more critically picky gunsmiths. They offer quite a few types, including some for press in barrels, screw in barrels, for underfolding stocks, for sidefolding stocks, for fixed stocks, and for at least two different calibers.

The only other "well proven" milled AK receiver produced in the USA is the Bulgarian licensed forged and milled specimens used by Arsenal Inc to produce their milled series guns. But,....... they don't sell them as stand alone items.

None of them are close. They all have some problems, either cosmetic or dimensional.

True, but what is one to do? The FEGs are long gone. All we can do is pray for Ted Marshall to make a correct one.

I know it, we are kind of screwed. Maybe like Jugrunner said. Get an SAR1 and take the rail off?
