save the wolf hollow point or soft tip of course.  they make bigger holes then the fmj.

I have shot jugs several times and have not found this to be the case.  The soft points do a little better but not much.

Try some of each for accuracy AND 100% functionality. Save that for the serious stuff or matches and use the less accurate for blasting. Personally, I have found the Barnaul to be the most accurate in my AKUSA AK103K (762x39) and AK101 (223). That is all I have left except for about 1k of Wolf, and Silver Bear for just blasting. For serious practice or matches, I only use the Barnaul.

I doubt the people downrange of you are gonna argue with 122 grains of lead going 2400 fps.

What you shoot/save for a "rainy day" is a matter of your personal preference/your rifle's personal preference/budget.  I think it's a good idea to stock the same kind of ammo that you shoot at the range.

That way, if you ever do have to use it for self defense, you're gonna know what to expect from it.

Why practice with a different ammo than you would rely on in a SHTF situation?  The less variables you have, the better!

That's my .02
