Many of you wont remember or know about this, but about 2 years ago, a moderator here was a guy named Aukai Collins. He was an ex-con who converted to Islam then went to fight jihad in Chechnya.

I completely freaked out that a jihadist was made a moderator here. Collins and his supporters said he was a patriot, collaborated with the Feds to hunt down Islamic terrorists in the US, etc.

But Collins was never repentant about his jihad fighting in Chechnya, which I stridently denounced and opposed. The school massacre in Beslan last week, ordered by top commanders of the Chechen movement like Basayev, explains why.

You can't go halfway with Islamic war, can't retain rules or civilized behavior. You can't participate in it and think you can retain your humanity. Collins thought you could, I asserted that it was impossible. I just want people to remember why I thought what I did, and more importantly that I was right. I remind you not for my ego, but to underscore and reinforce that tolerance and sympathy for Islamic militiancy/terrorism, our biggest threat in the world, is suicidal.

I do remember and you are 100% right. You cannot have it both ways. Terrorism is terrorism. There is no selectivity about it and it cannot be condoned in any form. The same applies to ELP and all the other eco wingnuts that support them in this country.

Back in 1993 when I first read of Chechnya and their fight to seperate from the Russian federation,I too felt great sympathy for the Chechyan People. All they wanted was to be an independant Country like so many other former Eastern Bloc Countries did.In the former Yugoslavia,Muslims were being slaughtered by the Serbs and at times the Croats, indescriminately, men, women and children. At the time in this region of the World there were no Islamic extremists, they were merely fighting for their own existance.

In 1993 the Russians dropped more tons of explosives on Chechnya than we used in Vietnam.I don't condone the tactics of the militants but the whole scope of fighting has changed since Collins was there.Collins was fighting Russians in Chechnya, not fighting Russians in Russia.

Same could be said for the AOG and its splinter groups, wouldn't you say?

Fighting a war against foreign troops in your own country is not terrorism, killing innocent civilians outside of your country or even inside your country is terrorism. Now I take exception if there is declared war and infrastructure such as war manufacturing and there are civilians employed....

I remember that guy. Campybob summed it up nicely IMHO. What did he end up in the clinker for in Mexico?

Is the same ass hat that was going around on the news saying he was a counter terrorism specialist? Didnt he lose a leg in a Russian ambush while fighting for the turban brotherhood?
