yes both are good, but out of the Box the Veprs are supposed to be the best, but that's why you pay more usually. you get what you pay for.

In 5.45 I'd go with the lighter SLR stamped gun, vs a beefier RPK type receiver.

yeah that's one thing I noticed about the Veprs, they're kinda beefy and a little heavier than any other type of AK.

For your first (?) 5.45mm AK I would go with the stamped Arsenal, Inc.

Get a vepr in 7.62*39
Get a arsenal in 5.45*39 I would get the VEPR in 7.62x39 if I was going to have one AK type weapon. Of course I just bought one and it is kick ass, so my review is alittle bias. |

Arsenal, because I don't see Arsenal Inc of Las Vegas or K-var going away anytime soon.
They'll have anything you need for your Arsenal. Plus the SLR-105 is the most authentic. |

The RPK receiver and barrel is pretty useless in a 5.45mm gun, lots of extra weight for no real gain.
Get the Arsenal. |

I have a VEPR, Polish underfolder, Bulgarian fixed stock, and a Chinese AKM all in 7.62. I got the VEPR first. To give another advice, I'd say get an authentic stamped AKM FIRST, be it in 5.45 or 7.62. The salesperson tried to convince me of this when I bought the VEPR, but the Arsenal was more, and I was already set on the VEPR. It weighs too much. Anybody want to buy mine?
