I dont want to create world war III on the net.......................
Here is the usual gun show drivel again, but I wanted to find out if anyone else had heard anything.

A dealer told me that he recieved a letter from the ATF last week that stated that "kits" were to be banned totally. I asked if he meant the "barrel" ban, and he stated no, a total kit ban.....ak's, HK's, FAL's all of em. Stated something about a shipment that was confiscated early last month.

Anyone heard of such a thing?

FAL kits were confiscated but they were given back, it was only because of full auto parts issues, only foreign barrels that that would make a non-sporting rifle as they are during imporation are banned

I undertand that. I specifically asked him and he said this was a new letter that came out last week. I hope and pray he is wrong and just trying to start some shit. Thats why I asked here.....maybe someone else can confirm or deny the rumor.......

ETA: No I didnt buy anything from him

well , I think you just need to remember that many of the members here are FAR-MORE awaire of up coming ATF problems than most "dealers" I have encountered.  A few weeks ago I stoped by a local gunstore( I am not sure if he could really be a dealer or not) , and this mental giant was tring to sell me a Yugo SKS that he took in on a trade , saying that the ATF had banned all barrels and I wouldn't be able to find a AK in a year( since they were now banned) and I should buy this rare SKS w/ grenade launcher. What a deal only 349.00 ,  it really burst his bubble to hear that a dealer down the road was selling them for 99.00  right out of the crate, with all the accessories.  Some dealers I belive, because they are interested in our hobby( or addiction) and keep up-to-speed, but most don't know the first thing about an AK, if Templar or Jnewt say it's true I'll belive, If not just talk to scare people into buying more kits.................. just my 2 cents..............Dave

All ATF open letters are listed here.  There is nothing new since the August letter regarding barrels.

I am a dealer and I have got no such letter either. Just the previous one everyone else knows about.

So will kits still be able to come it at all?  Or will the kits just go away?

no one knows for sure, the dealers are tight lipped, but I suspect kits will continue with high premiums for sporting neutered foreign barrels converted stateside or with US barrels
