Looking at getting one soon. Any issues to know of?

I read about some issues with feeding on early models.

I got a 106UR last year, 800 rounds and not a problem. I am using the black circle 10 mags and mostly crappy steel cased ammo.

I bought one here on EE board and it has been great so far.  I only have shot it out to 50 yards but no keyholing and I really like it.  It came with a bunch of the circle 10 mags and I have fed it nothing but steel cased stuff so far.  No problems at all.

You are going to want ((10)) mags.

Other than that it's ak business as usual.

How is mounting a top rail for a micro red dot? Cheek weld an issue on AKs?

New to the AK.

This is one of my favorite rifles.  No issues whatsoever.

Mine did not like Wolf HPs - with normal FMJ it runs fine.

Pre- BE SLR106s did have some issues, all of which have been resolved.

New to the AK.

I'd say the most popular methods for mounting a micro red dot right now would be Ultimak, RS Regulate AKML, TWS Dogleg, and MI handguard with optic specific top. Though, there are plenty of others.
My personal favorites out of the bunch are Ultimak and RS Regulate AKML.

Wonderful rifle bought mine used but I looked like ther couldnt have been more than 200 rounds down the pipe
These are excellent rifles I've added an ultimak rail with bushnell trs 25 red dot as well as a hogue grip.
This combo lets this rifle achieve full potential IMHO. I would have went with an rs mount but I'm not comfortable with not being able to fold the stock without removing the rail

Nice to see that setup.  I am planning on doing the exact same to mine and just need to get the Ultimak mounted and the TRS ordered.  Are you able to cowitness as it looks as though you are?

Feeding ramp and magazine issues on early models. Everything in production now runs smooth. Got mine last year and it feeds fine with both .223 and 5.56.

One of the best factory AK's available IMO.  Will eat any type of ammo.  I never had a malfunction.  Lots of optic options out there now OP either utilizing the side rail, the rear site, or gas tube.

Is it possible to add the side rail mount to a F model (like the FR comes with)?

I had an early model it had feeding issues I salveged wth a dremel and polished the chamber feed ramp and she shot flawless after this. I loved it but was given an offer I could not refuse and sold her.
