Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Any trick to getting the upper handguards off?

I grabbed the blunt end and *tried* to rotate the handguards 180 degrees, but could not.

Any tricks?

Hold the flats of the tube with a wrench or vise. Wrap the guard with a cloth or gloved hands and it will rotate off.

I had luck by pushing the handguard toward the gas tube and breaking the seal on each end.....I also had bad luck with one of my SARs and the wood snapped.....
