Few days ago I posted pic of a cracked Romy carrier.
If there's one cracked carrier there must be more.
Here's another one.

Seems that Romanians have mastered the art of manufacturing cracked carriers.

This crack extends farther out past the rivet (about 1/2"), camera did not capture it since it is hairline.

From what kits/variants are you finding these cracked carriers- WASRs, SARs, Gs, etc.?

This one is not from a kit or rifle.
It was purchased as a spare part.

Is the gas piston chromed or does it have a finish on it?
Is the carrier from an AKMor from a '47?

The gas piston was blued, not chromed.
Whether this carrier is from AK or AKM I do not know.
No numbers were stamped on it.
I have not seen this type before.

I've never been able to find a factory rivet on a carrier before without having to take some of the finish off. Is there any chance that the piston was replaced(perhaps with a US made one) and that the carrier was cracked in the process?

ETA- I see that there is a band of lighter bluing- Did it come that way, or was that done by you to illustrate the crack?

Looks like a full-auto-capable carrier (bump on the side).  From/for a former military AK maybe??

It is full auto carrier.
I have not installed gas piston, blued it to highlight the crack, or done anything to it.
It was listed as brand new Romanian AK47 auto carrier.

In the following, earlier thread, I posted pic of similarly cracked carrier from an excellent matching numbers G kit.

Probably why it was a spare.
