What's the bbl. length on that unit with the 74 brake? Looks to be a tad shy of 16".

Perhaps the oddball muzzle brake that AKUSA sells (looks like a 74 brake with a krink brake cone on it) would bring it up to the legal limit?

It looks like a cool version of a Krink.

There was a detailed write up on this weapon by Peter Kokalis in Small arms Review a couple of months ago.

Would be neet to use a Modern Russian Folder(the solid standard buttstock shaped one)and have an authentic AKS-74K

What's the big deal? It looks like a Krink wannabe with a longer barrel?

There are other angle shots in the small arms review article. I can copy it and mail it to you or give it to you in 3 and 1/2 weeks.

The small arms review article was several pages long.

All of that trouble for a stupid fake can that serves no functional purpose??????

Sigh......................

TRUE, but why bother with a short barrel then since you need 16" no matter what? I could see 14.5" with the AK brake like on the AK-103K AK-USA makes, since the brake brings it to the legal length anyway. Anything beyond that you're losing out in terms of ballistics.

Unless you have the $$$ and gun to go SBR, I don't think a fake can is worth it, unless you're a sick freak in need of it like you, Campy, KF, HeavyMetal, etc.

Agreed. Far too much of this crap going on in the AR world including the military who should damn well know better.

You cant teach an old topic new pics...

Or can you?

Words cannot describe how sexy this 74 is.
I smell a project gun.
I am about to start pricing SAR-2's tommorow!! must have one setup similarly!

When you do it, it will be easier to do if you get the original sight block from KVAR instead of using the Krinkov block as ASD used. A Krinkov block means you have to redrill a second gas port and close uo the original one as it has different locations, but the original block won't be like that. I've got the original block on my AK-104 if you need to see pics of what one looks like.

Which block is the "original" one Chwi548? And let's see your AK-104 anyway!

Gotta be pricey !

I contacted them last May on a price for an AKS-74 build. They said with one of their NFA donor receivers it would be $8,100. It was also mentioned that the AKS-74k would be available for a few hundred more. Of course transferable AKs were running in the $6k range at that point are more in the $8k range now barring a good deal.

AJBullets
The original front sight/gas block is this one from KVAR. It just started getting imported from Bulgaria, and is seen on AK-102/104/105 rifles.
http://www.k-varcorp.com/frontsightblock.html
It's down on the lower right of the page, right across from the Krinkov block so you can compare the differences.
I'd love to show the rifle, and have emailed pics to a couple people on here, but I don't have a clue how to put pics on a website or where to host. If anyone can provide info on that or has an easy solution, let me know. I plan on taking more pictures as well of my stuff once some new magazines come in.
