Does anyone know any little tricks to getting one of these bad boys to fold? The new ones are STIFF as all getup, and I'm no 100lb weakling either. I need a mallet or table corner to get mine to fold.

I have mine set to fold to the left not towards the action. I find it easier to close this way, i just hold the grip and push up with my thumb then close with my left hand.

Mine is set up to fold to the left also. I'll give it a whirl your way. Is yours pretty stiff hard to unlock when new? (had to edit that, didn't sound right )

that is very odd.  I would suspect that there might be something wrong if you have to use a mallet.

I am interested in this thread as I have been interested in getting a sidefolder for a milled rifle.

I put oil on mine and it seems a bit better now along with practice working it. I have the ar15 adapter also so can only go left.

I do notice that mine when unfolded wiggles just a bit veritically. Not sure if that is unavoidable or not.

I have all of mine folding to the right and totally clearing the action and bolt handle travel.
With the right-sided folding I find it easier to fold/unfold when carrying the weapon with a two-point sling. The stock does not interfere with anything when folded and shouldered to my side or back. Sitting and kneeling I may at times use the assistance of my front upper thigh to fold and if I'm staying down and if I'm using my right hand to fold. Standing it's very easy, I point the weapon to the ground, keep my shooting hand on the grip and use my off-hand (left) to fold.

Mine started doing that also. It was tight at first but well broken in now.  The wobble does make me wonder, but I don't notice it when shooting

Mine wobbles too, but it's a vertical wobble. Now, I've posted here in the recent past about my dislike for shit (at that price) that comes disassembled and is "adjustable". "Back in the day" when it was just ACE who owned it they would send it to you assembled if you chose. I wanted a decent side folder and couldn't find any others in stock so I went with the ACE/J&T one. Naturally when I saw the ever-so-slight up and down movement I said "Aha! Confirms my suspicion". However, I looked closely at it and it appears as though the movement comes from the spring-wrapped post in the folding assembly, i.e. it's not from any of the screws I Loctited loosening up or such.

You wouldn't even have seen my dog. A gun comes out and she is nowhere to be found.

is the wobble the same on a milled rifle vs the stamped?

Yes it is the spring wrapped post. I looked very closely as well after cranking down on the other bolts again.

My Ace folder is REALLY stiff too. It takes significant effort to fold it, but it has absolutely no wobble. Luckily, I only have it folded for storage/transport so unfolding (which is easy) is all I'd ever need to do in a hurry.
