I just picked up a Saiga .223 today and would like to know what sort of accuracy I can expect from it. Will it outshoot my SAR 3? What size groups can I expect? What bullets perform better, light or heavier (I am a reloader). Will a scope help out much?
Thanks everyone,
GaryM

My Saiga  has a 5.56 (military) chamber, 1 in 9 twist (personally measured by moi), and a chrome lined chamber and bore.  As such, all I shoot out of mine is M193 loads (SA surplus and Q3131A), and I get one inch groups at 50 yards off the bench.

I suspect a scope would improve accuracy.  Get the new weaver rail Saiga mount from cdnninvestments.com.

I get 1.5 MOA with my converted .223 Saiga using XM193.  I don't know if that's better than your SAR-3 because I haven't shot your SAR-3 yet.  ;)
