Hey guys, looks like I am posting in "that other" forum he
I have a few ban era 10 round mags (steel with what seems like a iron follower). Those are of course not worth much.
I have bee trying to find out if a clinton era rifle can accept normal 30 round magazines.

So does it accept normal magazines?
If not, is it possible (or legal) to make it accept normal magazines?

Depends on how wide the receiver is cut to allow magazines, without a picture I cant tell you for sure. But next time you go to a gunshop or gun show buy the cheapest 30rd AK mag they have and see if it fits?

are your 10rnd mags double stack or single stack?

if they are double stack any 30rnd mag should work.

hungarian? is it an amd63?

if its a FEG sa85m its a great ak! one of the best.

if its a double stack mag it standard.

if its a single stacker it can be made to take standard mags. im sure you could find someone to convert it if it is a single stacker. hope this helped.

Wow, you guys are fast!

I will get some pix in the morning.
The mags seem to be double stack, but taper to a single round at the top. The same as a GLOCK, or other double stack pistol mag.

here is what the feedlips of a double stack mag look like.

this is a 5rnd doublestack mag

edit: since i have never seen a single stack AK mag i dont know how to compare it.

Glad the gun has a home with visitation rights

If you find the gun only takes singles, and wish to mod it, just swap the fcg for 3 parts and the stock for 3 more parts, all with US mfg bits, and you are legal for roughly $150.

We'll type you thru it, and welcome from that "other forum"

The mags I have are single stacks Now if I switch out some old parts for US made parts, then all I have to do is cut out the mag well on the recever?

correct. there are guides on the internet on how to do this to WASR-10's all over, which will be generally the same thing as you will have to do to your gun.
