Never have seen this before. AR74?

I don't get it. I kind of like novelties, and I guess that's all it is.

I doubt there's anything that rifle will do that an AK-74 won't do better and more reliably.

yeah there was someone a while back who was making these, can't remember who.

I'll tell you what I would like, and I can't really say why, would be a Krinkov in 7.62x25.

The Russians do make a Bizon smg in 7.62x25 which is sorta Krinkov like.

huh.....I really don't see the point in an AR chambered for 5.45, but clearly somebody out there disagrees with me.

Alexander Arms made one called the Genghis .21. Do not see it on their website anymore.

IIRC, they were sold as the AR-15 in .21 Genghis by Alexander Arms, the peolpe that brought you 50 Beowulf and 6.5 Grendel. You can buy one here

No different than having an AK in .223/5.56. Most do it because they can. Anybody that has more than one weapon for personal defense has a hobby.

It does have the benefit of switching out the upper depending on ammo availability. Tell me again how hard its been to get bulk 7.62 M43 and 5.45 M74? And remember how 5.56 was hard to get a few months into OIF?

LOL why do they call it ".21 Genghis"? Where are we supposed to get ".21 Genghis" ammo anyway?

It could make alot of sense. 5.45x39 isn't nearly as affected by the loss of velocity from a short barrel. 5.45 from an AKSU-74 is still effective at "rifle" ranges while being compact like a SMG. A Colt Commando is seriously handicapped past 50 meters using M855. 6.8 SPC is a much better solution than a 5.45 AR for SBR's. While there is limited practicality, it would certainly be fun if you are a proponent of 5.45x39, as I am. The reason that I don't have a 5.45x39 AR is because there isn't ammunition which can compliment the accuracy potential of the gun. As good as 5.45x39 Ball is, I will stick with TAP and MK262 for which there is no 5.45 equivalent. I would much rather have a Krebs 5.45 than an AR chambered for this round. The AR and 5.45 don't really compliment each other very well.

Haha! I'd take one in a minute. Thirty rounds of over-penetration! That would be great beside my CZ-52.

Well, if you wanna build an accurate 5.45 based rifle, the AR is the one to do it on. Probably run circles around the AK based weapon in that reguards.
