Just curious, is the 7.62 mm round cheaper or more expensive than the AR's?

about the same, but varies greatly in some instances.

ak's can shoot steel case ammo all day. steel case 7.62 wolf, silver bear, etc  is $80-$100  /case

steel case 223 is $100-115/case

a little cheaper i guess unless you are shooting brass cased milspec 223, that is 2x as much as 7.62

SG 7.62x39 prices went up to $120 a case.
