Sorry about the blurriness in most of the video where the camera is away from the rifle. I had the damn macro switch set on close-up the whole time . Sorry again! If this is well received enough to do more reviews about more products I promise I will step my game up and not make such a rookie mistake again. Thanks for bearing with me and let me know what you think (besides my obvious error)!

Thats pretty cool, why hasent someone thought of this before. I have a polish UF that I would like to keep all original looking but this wouldnt look really out of place.

To be honest...I have no idea! It's such a good idea though. If you decide to install it check back and maybe post pictures? I'm interested in how that would look myself.

I've thought about something like this for a long time.  I could never come up with a design that didn't permanently alter the rifle in some way.

Looks like it requires you to drill the hole in the side of the receiver to be bigger?  That's a no go for me, because after that you can never go back to a normal safety.

I like the Galil style thumb safety that the Bulgarians use.  It still requires mods to the receiver, but the end result is much cleaner looking.

I like the lever, but the permanent mods to the receiver to run it are a no-go for me.

Very good taste with the Krebs rail.

These have been on the AK Files for a while, but I could not bring myself to buy one due to the permanent mods to the left side of the receiver. Killed it for me.

Just out of curiosity, why not just extend the pivot point of a regular safety out further, then weld your assembly onto that to avoid needing to modify the receiver?

+1. I always hated how my thumb sat on the ambi safety for my SAM7 SF.

I like it. I have enough traditional rifles that taking one build and enhancing with this type of modification in conjunction with the TWS rail would make a fine combination.

I definitely understand the concerns about the permanent modifications. As stated...this is definitely not for purists or those without the confidence to drill a hole into their receiver. I'll tell you this though...The installation could not have gone smoother once I was given a lever meant for my thicker receiver. I can guarantee that if you have a standard receiver that these are meant for it's easier to install one of these than change out your trigger assembly and the gain is astronomical! I've shot a Galil with that version of the safety lever but this is much better feeling to switch to safe and fire in my opinion. My whole goal with this upgrade is to "evolve" my AK into a platform that's more ergonomic. This along with my Krebs Rail, Mako forend, Magpul shorty broom handle, Hoag grip and Tapco stock make this MY perfect AK. All that is left is an EOTech. Couldn't be happier!

why don't they just make a model that replaces the existing safety lever with one that has a pin that goes entirely through the receiver and connects to a selector on the other side?  You don't even need to do any mods, its just one big kit!  No need to drill the receiver at all

I installed one of these on a Draco I'm converting into a carbine. As stated, the installation is simple. Drill your existing hole on the left side of the receiver with a 3/8" bit & debur. The only thing that requires any skill would be lightening the force needed to actuate the safety. If you don't know how to do this, you probably shouldn't mess with this. As it stands right now, this safety is easier to manipulate than the ones on my AR's. It's not too pretty, but it works extremely well.

Just wanted to know if anyone else who has this installed has any pictures of the completed project. Thanks!

The pictures on the Sniper Handle web site pretty much show everything there is to see. Once the hole is enlarged & deburred, the left side lever is slipped into the hole & secured with an E-Clip. Then you install the regular safety lever as you normally would, except the end that goes through the left side of the receiver is now captured by the slotted body of the new safety lever. The only catch is you can't run a "Shepherd's Crook" that would normally fit around the small end of the safety. This would be the Chinese & maybe the Polish hooks. I hope that helps you out.

I don't like it only because it is reverse action...as I expected to see if the mod  was simply an extended shaft to the other side. Thumb down for safe and up for fire. Would much prefer thumb-down for fire...a more natural movement ...like on a Colt 45 instead of like the movement of a classic DA pistol ( Walther PP, up for fire...which is also ergonomically wrong).

Just mod the regular lever with a "Shelf" closer to the pivot point...and use the firing hand trigger finger, to move down to fire.

I don't know why they call it an ambidextrous safety. It's still meant for right handed shooters. Does someone make one that makes it easier for Left handed shooters?

Thanks for the information but I wasn't inquiring for my personal sake...I'm the OP. I made the video review. Haha. Just wondering if anyone else purchased one, did the work and had some pictures to post.
