I picked up a TGI AK 74 built on a Nodak Spud receiver pretty cheap and it came with 9 pro mag magazines.  Surprisingly, most work ok, but I’ve had a few misfeeds.  Are there decent mags available without paying $45 a piece for Bakelites or Circle 10’s?

Are the metal reinforced poly Bulgarian mags at CDNN decent?  They also have Tapcos on sale for $8 and they seem to get great reviews.

Magpul as above unless you want to pay more for older E. Bloc mags.

Are the Magpuls worth twice as much as Tapco? I’m not a fan of many things they make, but their G2 triggers and 7.62 mags are good.  Not sure about their 5.45 mags.

I'd go with the magpuls.......... I used them in a carbine class recently with my Tantal and had no issues.

The plan is to use the magpuls for future classes and range use. Saving the milsurp for a 'Rainy Day'.

I have a LOT of the CDNN type Bulgarian polymer ones with the steel feed lips.  I love them and have had zero problems.  I still like bakelites or plum circle 10's first, but for the money the new production Bulgy mags are great.

Magpul 5.45 mags are $13.  I don't go near Tapco mags but I'll stick with Magpul?

I have actually heard good things about the Tapcos.

I've had a few problems with the Magpuls so I tried out the Tapco's. They work very well.
