I was told by a worker in my local gunshop that the gov. is buying all the 7.62 so they can give to the iraqi army.......
is this ture guys?... |

and and in one chart Yes, ammo is harder to get, and has gotten more expensive through some soruces. But it is still availble. Your best bet is to order it from Sportsmans Guide, which still has reasonable prices and allows for backorders. I order a case of 1,000 rds from them for around $105 shipped and it took about 6 weeks to get it. In contrast, Ammoman had it in stock so I bought a case of 1,000 the same day for $140 shipped. I now have 1900 rounds in stock as I fired off about 100 when the first case showed up. The government let out several contracts to suppply to Iraqi army with fresh 7.62x39, and that is taking a lot of the supply away fro mthe civvy market, although it still dribbles in. The frustrating part of that equation is the Iraqi army has MILLIONS of rounds of ammo stored, but Uncle Sam is destroying it. The second part I can confirm, I have a firend who is an Captain in the engineers who was involved with a lot of that on his last tour in the Gulf. Buy it or backorder it when it is cheap. The only thing you can count on with ammunition is that it gets more expensive as time goes on. |

gubbament, you gotta luv 'em. Kinda like the vids I saw of them running over captured AKs (most milled) with a tank. They could of saved money and deployed those instead of pumping money into eastern block countries to buy their cold war left overs. I'm sure it had to do with, "you back us and we'll buy your stuff" kinda deal. Stupid none the less. It's like me putting my ford explorer in a car crusher, then going to the ford dealership and buying the same year and model again. |

I just ordered 2K on the 7th and it shipped yesterday from SG for about 165 shipped. Just gotta be in the right place and the right time I guess
accurate graph if I do say so myself |
yeah, that's where I get mine on a regular basis. |
I would guess the ammo is an unknown: unknown storage conditions unknown age unknown manufacturer unknown condition |

I think that someone should start the rumor that it's a plot by third world counties and as soon as they can build enough boats they are going to start the invaison. No house should be with out 1000 rounds of back up ammo for time like these
Don't know if its "ture", but...since you heard it in a gunshop... I would bet on it. Y- |

man it really sucks but it there is nothing we can do about it for now!!!!have

Don't use product code WX2-67116 as it is still $94.00!
Use AX5A-67116 at $79! |
I just got 2k rounds delivered yesterday from the Guide. $163.82 shipped.
still waiting on my 5.45 to get here tho. |
I just order 3k for $257 shipped to my house! I love free shipping when renewing my membership!
Although, I hate the $5 per case they charge you for bulk. So, It's not 100% free shipping. |

it is very convenient if you're an SKS/AK owner. I've never needed to order 7.62x39 online because I live next to an academy |
Except for the $143/1000 cost! |
yeah i just the calculation
but hey if that is what i have to pay for barnaul jnowadays then it is what I have to pay |
yeah, it's not a hell of a deal, but convenient if you only keep a few hundred rounds at a time. every time I get a few hundred dollars that I can spend on 3K rounds of 7.62 or 5.45, it always winds up going towards another rifle. |

I went nuts ordering ammo this month:
250 rds. of 5.7 500 rds. of 9mm 980 rds. of .308 2000 rds. of 7.62X39 HP 2000 rds. of 5.45X39 FMJ 3000 rds. of 7.62X39 FMJ I did sell one of my Krebs KTRs and have another one for sale. But then again I did buy 2 Yugo M70 underfolders-doh! |
I was there, early, and they specifically told us NOT to destroy it, so it could be reissued. Your friend isn't following orders, unless they are destroying Iraqi manufactured ammo, which is crap, unserviceable, not reliable, and needs to be destroyed. |
These posts make me glad I'm sitting on 950 rounds of 7.62 FMJ and 1100 rounds of 5.45 FMJ

The war on Iraq has been over almost 3 years now. And now their sending all the Wolf to Iraq? Because lets face it its the cheap ammo that were mostly all crying about being short supplied. And with good reason cause it saves use money to buy now guns.
But the true cause is the AWB sunset and the tremendous demand for what prbably has been a very static unchanging stock of 7.62 up to Sept 14, 2004. How soon do you thing the suppliers started stocking extra AK ammo? I doubt before or right after the sunset. The increased demand and available supply was bound to come to this. Im really surprise we got 2 years almost before the curve crashed. It will come back up That being said Im sitting comfortable on a fully 1K+ loaded 7.62 and another case to sit on and the same goes for .223. Now for pistol ammo.. |
Shit , I don't feel good I'm sitting on 1,500 FMJ silver bear 123 GR. and only 380 FMJ 124 GR. ULY .... I need more !!! Damn I just forgot that I had pouch with 4 30round mags filled with uly so that only makes 2,000 .. I should be happy that's better then nothing .... |

What the heck am I doing wrong?
I ordered 2k from SG back in late December and it is still on back order PLUS it cost me $219.42? How can you guys be getting this stuff now and for around $160? I'm now a SG member and will save a little on future purchases. What gives? Maybe I ought to cancel my order and re-order? |
sounds like a good idea |
Yeah, Sportsman's Backorder is doing the same thing with my 5.45 order. Sigh...

Two years ago when i got my Ak I immediately went to the first local gun show and snatched up ammo, stock kit, scope etc. Back then a crate of 1k rounds was like 95 dollars. I went tlast year and the cheapest ammo was 125. THis weekend im goin back home to greensboro for the big semi annual gunshow and i pray its not much more then last year lol. Anyways, had a question. I shoot out in Tenn. at a public range. Now the only guns i see at this place are .22s and powder rifles. Everytime i go these people just give me dirty stares and sometimes even yell at me about my weapon choice. I found it funny at first but now its kinda irritating. Last time i went i was called a terrorist and they threatened to take my gun and break it. Well needless to say i never shoot alone, and I told them i like to see them try and take my gun. Any of you know what i should do about the situation? I cant shoot anywhere else within 150miles or so i checked so im kinda stuck shooting there. Any advice is good advice

I ordered 500rds from the Guide back on the 22nd,still on backorder unti the 1st

You've almost got me in tears Man! That's like little orphans on Christmas morning with NO TOYS!! Any more statements like that and we might have to take up a collection for you. DK |
Tell them to FOAD! |
I just ordered 2k of WOLF HP from them SG and it cost me $153 shipped! Of course, its backordered. lol
You need to network with a bunch of other people off of gun forms and bring a few other guys with you with lots of AKs, ARs, HKs, etc. and make a show of force of how normal it is to have all of this fun stuff. |
Heh, my friends and I got lectured at Benchrest in St. Louis for shooting too fast and making too much noise with our toys, even though our range safety was excellent and all our rounds were controlled, aimed shots. I retorted, "sorry we are so loud, I didn't mean to make you soil your Depends." Try it, the older hunter types REALLY hate that line. |
How in the hell did you do that? |
Everybody needs to use the $79 case link and not the higher one and then put in the discount code. Club members get another discount on top of all that. I'm waiting on 5,000 rds. of 7.62 and 2,000 rds. of 5.45 right now. SG sent me 500 rds. of 9mm the other day (it was in stock and shipped quickly). Aim just brought me 980 rds. of 308 which SG was out of.

dude, academy 1960/249 area did you call the one on 59 and shepard, that's SW? |
I had ordered 1K for $79 but when I got my backorder notice it had the updated or higher price on it. When you got your backorder notice did the price not go up?
I would like to know how you were able to do that too. |
Must be a club member and got a discount (= $75 per 1000 = $150)and then used a $15 off Coupon than you add in the shipping to equal $153. |
JUst noticed the $79 ad link is dead! AX5A-67116: This Ad is currently not available!
I just picked up 1k of brown bear(made by barnaul) for 109 OTD locally. I bought all they had that was 123 SP and left 3k of HP. WHen I buy from CDT it runs about 150 per k of wolf FMJ.

Join "Fat Wallet". They list SG as a client. Shop through them at SG and you'll get a 6% rebate after the purchase.
I wish I'd known about them before! I purchased a case of ammo for my Polish Mak and a holster and got over $6 back after the club discount and coupon. Not a bad deal. |
I just bought 3K of 7.62 FMJ from SGN for $286 shipped. shipping charges and bulky item fee really sucks. Other than that it's a great price. but ya gotta wait till june.
