Anybody have real experience in the 7.62x25 tok?

I owned a 7.62 Chinese clone Tokarev once. Hard hitting cheap gun. Ammo used to be dirt cheap. Not so much these days.

ETA. None of the pistol rated vest stop it IIRC.

Me too. I always thought a Bizon looking AK in this cal would be fun.

To answer the op's question. I have a Romanian Tokarev a PPS-43 semi and am slowly building a PPS-43 sbr. Ammo has gone up a lot. The days of cheap surplus are gone. Commercial loadings are available.

To supplement my stash of surplus ammo, I reload. Boxer primed brass is available from time to time and I use Hornady bullets. I also use .223 brass cut down and formed to make Tokarev brass. It's kind of an involved process but I get much better consistent velocity and accuracy.

If your looking for a fun firearm, pick one up in this caliber.

Somebody was doing an AK in 7.62x25. There was also a way to use a PPSh-41 drum.
