I am building an AR47 and the Romanian Drums have a partial band/tab that wraps around the back.  The mag well is cut perfectly for a 20/30 round mag, but this minute tab prevents the drum from seating fully.

Can I machine this off?  What purpose do they serve?

It looks like its just extra metal there, As long as that tab that’s getting in your way isn’t a weld or something like that, should be no problem removing it IMHO.
