I just purchaced an AKS-74U kit from K-Var. This is my first AK-74. I have several 762 x 39 AK's, like a Maddi, SLR-95, AMD ect. So I am somewhat up on the 762 x 39 parts and acces.
So my question is what's the deal with all the different markings on the 5.45 x 39 mags? Like 10 dbl circle, 25 sngl. circle, 21 sngl. circle, 21 dbl. circle. Are some better or are they all good? I am looking to load up on mags. so some help would be great.... Thanks

I think 21s are all double circle? At least mine were.

Anyway, my favorite are the double circle 10 and double circle 21. circle 25s have been 100% reliable for me, but they're looser, and have a larger flat part at the top that extends down further below the mag well than on 10s or 21s. Just looks slightly different, like the mag isnt all the way in.

The numbers denote the country of manufacture.

Some are more rare than others, but they should all function fine.

They should all be good just avoid the American made mags. Stick with the Bulgys, East german, and Romanian. There are other countries too but the ones i listed are the most common and therefore not going to cost you $30-40 a mag.

Each of the markings you listed denotes a different Bulgarian factory.

K-var has all kinds of Bulgarian 5.45mm mags. The Russian AK-74 mags are always the most expensive. The only steel 5.45mm mags, I know of are Romanian and Polish. From what I've read there's only 30 rd and 45 rd 5.45mm mags.
