Yep, so the exact color of the paint I use is flexible.

Pretty much. All in the greyish blue range.

One that I recall was a Krylon Dark Machinery Gray

Name # Dark Machinery Gray
 Product # K11006631
 HTML # 797D86
 CMYK # 56, 45, 38, 7
 RGB # 121, 125, 134

or

Name # Machinery Blue Gray
 Product # S00329
 HTML # 81827D
 CMYK # 51, 42, 46, 8
 RGB # 129, 130, 125

Only problem is this stuff does not hold up to some solvents.

Pick a gray any gray.

The top two is the black that CSA/Czechpoint uses. And the gray is the gray color that CSA/Czechpoint used to use. The others are all the various shades of gray that CZ used over the years when they made the 58.

I don't know where you looked for the Krylon. But have you tried Wallymart or a large hardware store?

If you want a harder and more permanent finish. You'll need to go the Cerakote, Gunkote, Duracoat, (or similar) route. I like painting guns with Krylon. But it's far from perfect or semi permanent. Krylon is good for field expediency and overall use. But it will chip easily. But if you'll just looking to fill in some dings, chips, scratches. A close matching rattle can paint should be sufficient.

And to get an even look. You'll probably need to strip off all the paint that's on the rifle and go from there.

I found that Testors has a spray paint that matches it exactly(at least on my barrel) called Dark Sea Blue. it matches excellent and dries fast and hard. It doesn't match my mag or bolt carrier or operating rod cover but it looks great otherwise and has the appearance of the laquer paint the Czechs applied
