Some guys from work invited me to the State USPSA match this May and since it’s during the week I’d be able to swing it schedule wise. I don’t have time during the weekend to attend the local matches and I probably won’t until late summer or fall.

I will do a lot of dry fire and airsoft drills in my garage between now and May, but I thought I’d ask which gun I should use? This is just for fun for now and I’m not willing to buy another gun just for this.

What I have now:

STI Eagle 6.0 in .40
Beretta 92A1
Sig P320 FS
Glock 34 with RMR 06
Glock 19 with RMR 06

I’ve got a few other pistols but those are my best options. I’m leaning toward shooting production with my 92, but the STI is a definitely a close second.

I don’t like the FS 320 as much as my 320 TB and I’m not sure if I want to try CO.

I'd shoot the STI in Limited Major because Production, Carry Optics and Open are gay.

Limited division with the STI is probably going to be most forgiving to a new shooter.

Production is the Lord's division though.

Stay in production. It's been a while, but if memory serves if you pull the RMRs, either of the Glocks qualify.

Either pull the RMR from the G34 for Production or use for CO, or the Eagle for Limited.

What’s your mag/holster situation?

I’ve got holsters and plenty of magazines for all the above, but I’m thinking the STI would be more fun to shoot. I like my RMR’d Glocks, but the STI is a blast to shoot.

Agreed. I bought an STI solely because I'd wanted one for years and figured it would be fun to shoot in competition. It is, as long as I keep the magazines tuned & maintained. I'm not bothered that a decent shot with a stock Glock 26 would shoot circles around me.

I started with a glock in production, but the metal guns called to me. Also, limited is easier since you don't have to do as many reloads...

If you won't be able to shoot many/any matches between now and your level 2 I'd shoot the STI in Limited, slightly less involved in stage planning/memorization which is the first thing to fade for me.

If you want to shoot production the 320 or take the optic off the 34.

Depth of field in CO has been pretty lame at most majors in this area I've looked at, but I really enjoy the division.

Might look for weeknight indoor matches. I know Charlotte has some, don't know anything inside SC.

Use the Beretta because of the decocker. Easy to put the gun on safe after making ready and unloading. The 92A1 has dovetailed sights so you can switch to fiber optic front and blacked out rear if you want. I believe the 92 series has the right amount of weight as well. Not too heavy and not too light.

Shoot the G34 in Limited with +2 baseplates

Revolver, 627 or 929.  Real men shoot the noble round gun, not those filth bottom feeders.

STI and limited without a doubt

I use a G19 with RMR.

it's not the usual completion gun but it fits my hand better than the full size Glocks.

Beretta 92 - Limited Minor

Mec-Gar 18 round mags with Springfield Precision +4 mag extensions.  Take lots of ammo.

A state level USPSA match? Sti in limited major no doubt. Are you a USPSA member?
Production is far from easy.

34 and use it in the Carry Optics division.
