I did the last 8 years or so, the All Guard has forever as well. It’s not that big a deal.  Made NRA HM and cmp HM doing it. Nowadays I shoot a 75 vld or 80.5 Berger at 600, not always, but mostly. Too lazy to work that hard in the wind. There are pluses and minuses to both ways, and some guys are dead set against it, and some believe their slow 80 load is beating the 2800 FPS 77 load, it’s not. And some say scratch nines, I say you missed a 1.5 moa change so I’m not buying that either, but, I will tell you, do what makes you feel good, and shoot what is the most accurate out of your rifle. The best x count I ever had at 600 with a service rifle was 199-14x with 77’s. Didn’t miss one from the wind, just broke it a little low. Oh well. Do what you feel like is best for you, and it will be the right thing.

I prefer saving time not fiddling with the powder measure and seating plug, and not having the "I accidentally fired my 1st shot at 600 with short line ammo" moment. Especially for newer shooters until they get to 93% at 600.

I believe SR should require maglength Mk262 equivalents (or M193/M855, ballistically), but I guess it's not really enforceable.

I am shooting in the 785 range with them, and I don’t practice anymore, you will be fine.

You can use the same ammo for all distances and be competitive, but there is still an advantage using dedicated 600 yard ammo with vld type bullets assuming they are properly loaded; this usually means longer than mag length; this complicates handloading and the ammo oal must be matched to the individual rifle.  At a minimum this is an inconvenience, worst case you can make something that will shoot worse.  The dedicated 600 yard ammo with long bullets doesn't necessarily shoot tighter groups, you get a slight advantage with wind drift.  If there is almost no wind or it is consistent and you are good at making wind calls, it may not matter a lot.  If the wind is inconsistent or going different directions from one end of the range to the other, every little advantage helps.

Cost isn't a significant issue, but convenience may be.

Both loaded with 24 grains of tac. The eld's run 60 fps slower than the bthp.

WOA, Wylde chamber correct? What OAL and/or jump did you use?

I legged out and made HM with Nosler 77s at 2&3 and 80s at 6.

I shot some matches since using all 77s since AMU was doing that. This spring, I got squadded with AMU again. They are using separate loads again.

Do whichever gives you your best results.

Mag length 75 or 77 going about 2750fps are perfectly fine for 200-600yds until your consistently shooting HM scores.

I made DR and HM with H75's with that speed at all distances. Having a single box of ammo at a match just removes one more thing to worry about when you're still learning (I'm pretty sure I'm STILL learning).

I did get fancy and switch to Berger 80.5's for 600 last year, saw a slight increase in scores at 600 (2-4 points), they mainly just let me be sloppier on my wind calls.

Practice more, worry about small details less = higher scores.

I'll still bring the 80s to the line at 600 when I have time to load them... but...

In a pinch, I started to test the 77 TMK and find they are kind of in between the 77 SMK and 80 SMK out at 600.

If I were to get into a bind for reloading time again, I think I would run the 77 TMK and no regrets.
