i have a rem 700 .243 CDL. the rifle shoots decent but i dont hunt and i have a 6.5 creedmoor for longer range stuff.
Im wanting to send the barreled action off, have it trued, and a 16.5" .308 heavy profile barrel chambered and installed, and cerakoted. who do you guys suggest |

I just had a 308 rem700 trued, barreled, and cerakoted by RWS. He did a great job.
you might better off just selling the 700 and getting something like a bighorn origin. Better action overall and can take easy to source prefits if you ever get want to change barrels again. |

Valor Precision https://valorprecision.com Short Action Customs Long Rifles Inc Prepare yourself as many barrel manufacturers and other parts manufacturers are behind. Thus smiths are behind too. Bartlein quoted me 10 months plus just for a contoured barrel blank. Valley View recently built my Surgeon CSR. He supplied the Krieger barrel and I sent him everything else. Took him about two weeks for the full build.   Typically labor is going to get you so be prepared for that too: Tuning $350 Chambering and fitting barrel $350 Cerakote $225 That’s damn near $1k and we haven’t even got parts yet. |

Yeah everything is slow now but you can buy a barrel blank at Bugholes and send it with your parts to the smith and it will be a lot quicker unless the smith has what you need on hand.

I'm a fan of Long Rifles Inc. While I've never had them build a complete rifle, I've had them do other work and I've been pretty impressed.

I've used GA Precision for many years and have also been happy with Short Action Customs.
Waiting on a barrel from Krieger, 10+ months they said. |
