Even though I'm not even interested, I'm a buyer at $500.

How could it be old when the Ultra Mag didn’t come out till ‘99?

There’s a few factors that go into the value. First, how many rounds fired through it, RUM are known to be barrel burners. Second what retical does the scope have?

With out knowing the answers, I would say your some where between $800 to $1200. What you have going against you on it is that the RUM has fallen out of favor, 15 years ago everyone was wanting them. I believe they are a longer action that the standard Long Action and the bolt face it at about the maximum size that it can be, so using the action to build a custom gun has it’s limits. Depending on what retical the scope has can increase the value of it, if it has one of the B&C reticals they can add $100-$150.

It depends on barrel wear, but the 300rum is an excellent cartridge, the only "new" cartridge that comes close to it is the 300norma mag.. We have been shooting the rum since it was released in 1999, right now thats 5 rifles amongst our little group...To give you an idea, my sons bone stock rem 700 long range launches a 230 grain burger at 3150 fps at sea level and 70*. My custom 700 with a 28" bartlein barrel chambered for the 230 launches the 230 at 3220fps, Figure if the barrel isn't shot out of it, 700-1200 depending on the scope....if the barrel is shot out, 200-300 for the rifle then add the scope..Bartlein barrels will square the action and build and chamber you a sweet barrel for less than 1200 bucks completely done ready to shoot (fluted/Chambered SAAMI minimum/threaded muzzle)..I would run a bore scope down it and see what it looks like...
