Lots.?.
For the hobbyists, swfa is popular. |

Don't spend too much time worrying about what I wrote. I'm either being sarcastic or blowing off steam.

SS scopes from SWFA are 50 cal rated These can be a good choice for a rifle you only shoot occasionally but want a reliable optic. I think you should be fine with Nightforce , US Optics, Tangent Theta, Schmidt Bender. A Vortex Razor might not be a bad choice due to its no fault warranty. For top tier scopes for long range you are looking for scopes with a 34 mm or 35mm tube and rings from Badger Ordnance, Talley, NF, SPUHR, La Rue ... As little as I could afford to shoot one I might put a fixed power 16x SS on it in Badger Rings and call it good.

The 50 has a mild recoil impulse. If you don’t believe that ask the engineers and QC guys at the next shot show. Dont ask sales ppl. I have almost 20yrs behind them and never had a leupold or nightforce fail. Those are good mid level mid cost scopes. They will see and adjust to the range your rifle will effectively & accurately shoot. 4yrs ago I went to the cheytacs and March optics. I would say the new march with 400moa of adjustability is the only game in town for going long. A NF Atacr 35x would be an good combo and is several thousand cheaper than some upper end scopes with excellent tracking.

im using a vortex viper pst II ffp 5-25.
yeah call me cheap but the warrantly is solid. and they are explicitly .50 rated. |

Nightforce scopes are .50 rated and a great choice for .50's! Go to one of the FCSA matches and look at what the guys shooting are using, most use some type of NF scope.
The recoil forces from a .50 are as bad or worse than a air rifle! They will destroy a lesser scope in no time, you have to remember that that big ass muzzle brake on the end of your barrel acts on the scope also. |

Burris rates all of their scopes as .50 BMG capable.

most scopes should be fine.
just don't use a cantilever mount. |

I guess you could install the cantilever backwards to fix your problem, but realistically there's no reason to not just go with a standard mount. |

Some other scopes will start to enter that arena, but are not build to stand up to the abuse a 50 cal will out the internals of a scope through. On these brands, limit Steiner to military series. Limit S& B to PM-II, and NF wis probably the best in durability and can include NXS, ATACR and NX8 |

It's gas operated so the barrel/receiver/scope move in unison and it's much harder on scopes than a M82 which is short recoil. Here's a slow mo of a M82 using crappy high mount rings, the kind you get free when you buy a $40 chinese scope https://youtu.be/TAifdFbEEEs?t=47 That said, I agree there's no reason to use cantilever mounts. The only reason for those is for ARs where you don't have enough continuous rail. |

BIL has a Leupold gold band on his .50 and it has held up fine.

2 AR50s with Sightron SIII 6-24 in Burris Sig XTR rings. Best bang for buck other than fixed swfa 16 or 20x.

Nightforce is rated beyond 2mm Vulcan.
Also, a 7.5 pound 300 UM will kick harder than a .50 |

I seem to remember, maybe 15 years ago, some advertisement from Nightforce that was basically a testimonial from a guy with a 14.5x114 that kept breaking every scope he put on it, until he tried Nightforce and it held up.
Edit: page 5 right side. Guess they've kept it in there for awhile (makes sense though). https://www.nightforceusa.com/PDF/Nightforce-Catalog.pdf |
