So I’ve ordered a 24” threaded heavy barrel Howa 1500 action from Brownells in 6.5 Creedmoor.
Caliber choice reasoning:
Honestly I went with 6.5C because there’s cheap bulk blasting ammo available that I can use for practicing positional shooting and short range stuff with and not break the bank.
So anyway, i got a Warne 20 moa rail, and will be mounting the upper in a KRG Bravo chassis (yeah I know I’m just building a gun they already sell but it’s cheaper by the part). I’m going to be using a Vortex Viper PST 4-16 FFP I already have on top for now.
Now the questions:
So my intent is to shoot this year with the Vortex, and then upgrade the scope (putting the old one back on a 6.5 Grendel). Right now I just need scope rings that work, but are not expensive. They don’t have to be pretty, or light, just effective. What are your suggestions? Can I find decent 50-75 dollar rings for this? Suggestions?
And ammo! I know she’s gonna like her own preferences, but where should I start?
Got any suggestions for a budget match round that has decent accuracy but won’t break the bank, and a round that is a top performer. Probably already gonna try the Hornady ELD offerings as I’ve had good success with them in 6.5G.
