[Last Edit: Texas_Sig]
I just bought a new spotting scope, and am looking for a high-quality tripod for prone and bench shooting.

Any ideas?

I think I would pay extra for a tripod.

I have several, including 2 vortex tripods and 1 Neewer tripod..

The Neewer is the heaviest duty one, weighs about 3.5 pounds, is solid as heck and cost about 120 bucks..it is my favorite ....it will configure down into all sorts of useful positions....

On the vortex tripods I have a PRO-GT, its heavy pretty stout, but not as solid as the Neewer...Won't configure down into as many different positions either..

The other one is their light weight Summit ssp..its  a great tripod when you need light weight, it also configures down into all sorts of usable packages as well, and the one I normally set my Labrador up on, on the bench/ground when shooting..it works great for that.. it also works great for walking down the hill with the scope when looking at animals when hunting...but it is much shakier than the other 2...

Neewer does make some very nice miniature tripods as well and maybe what you want if its only used prone or bench top..

Take a look at what Creedmoor Sports has.

Are you as the shooter using the spotting scope, or do you have a buddy spotting for you?

For spotting in the prone a traditional tripod sucks.  The scope stands like the creedmoor linked above are much better suited to that task.

If you have a buddy spotting for you a regular tripod works just fine.
